Coaches
At Padel Center Rovaniemi, coaching is led by an experienced and enthusiastic team that works with both adults and juniors, from beginners to competitive players. Below you will find introductions to our coaches.

Ville Muranen
Ville Muranen comes to padel coaching with a strong background in competitive sports. In volleyball, he played at Finland’s top league level with Perungan Pojat and won both Finnish Championship gold and bronze. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Leisure Management with a specialisation in coaching and has worked in the sports sector for many years. In addition to padel, Ville has previously coached volleyball and cross country skiing. He has also completed the Finnish Padel Association’s Level 2 club coach education, which is currently in its final stages. As a coach, Ville is positive, encouraging, and approachable. His strong pedagogical skills are reflected in well structured training sessions and clear, constructive feedback. He is driven by a constant desire to develop both as a player and as a coach, while supporting the progress of those he trains. Ville is a true team player at heart. In padel, he is especially inspired by working together with a partner towards a shared goal. He is also drawn to the game’s changing rhythm, where calm phases alternate with fast paced rallies. In training, this is reflected in game based exercises that combine solid fundamentals, smart decision making, and an understanding of match tempo. The same qualities can be seen in Ville’s own playing style: patient point construction, with his volleyball background showing when the opportunity arises and the ball occasionally ends up well beyond the back glass, usually with a point for his team.
Henri Seppänen
Hemppa has a broad sporting background and grew up playing ball and racket sports. He has played padel very actively for four years. Hundreds of hours of training with top Spanish coaches are clearly reflected in his performance both on court and in coaching. He also brings a 12 year career as a coach in the corporate world, which shows in his firm, clear, and people focused approach. Hemppa has also completed the Finnish Padel Association’s Level 2 club coach education, which is currently in its final stages. As a player, Hemppa is versatile. He enjoys everything from grinding it out in the defensive corner and slipping in a slow bajada or chiquita, to hitting two handed backhands and smashing the ball as hard as possible. 😄 He competes actively, and brings ideas and insights from competition into his coaching. As a coach, Hemppa has a sharp eye for even the smallest technical details, often the exact adjustments that unlock progress and make things click. He is also ready to work hard himself during sessions, ensuring that game based training delivers maximum impact.

Veera Nurmi
Veera is an experienced coach who has coached both padel and tennis for several years in Helsinki and has been actively involved in club activities and events at Grani Tennis. Her background includes multiple Finnish Championship titles and medals in both padel and tennis, a Level 1 padel coaching qualification, and a Level 2 club coach qualification in tennis. As a player, Veera has extensive competitive experience. In addition to her success at Finnish Championships, she played university level tennis in the United States from 2004 to 2008. As a coach, Veera is encouraging and positive, while also suitably demanding. Training sessions are focused and purposeful, with the chatting saved for after the hour on court. 😉 What inspires her most about padel is the social nature of the sport. “Playing and a bit of friendly competition are the best parts. Let’s have fun on court. Padel is an enjoyable leisure activity with great people. 👌”
Joonas Tervonen
Joonas comes from a sporting background in football and golf, and training has always been close to his heart. Before discovering padel, he coached golf for nearly ten years. Padel won him over instantly when the outdoor courts were built at Antinpuisto. During his very first summer of playing, he logged well over one hundred hours on court. Even before the courts officially opened, Joonas enthusiastically asked Joni Luolamaa to be his partner in his first tournaments, but at the time Finland’s number 14 ranked player declined. 😅 Today, they work closely together as part of the STIGA racket brand team. Joonas has completed a padel instructor qualification as well as the Professional Coach Qualification (VAT). What he values most in padel is the sense of community and the accessibility of the sport. Through padel, he has formed many friendships and professional opportunities, including a visit to a racket factory in Morocco and media work at numerous padel events. As a coach, Joonas believes strongly in the importance of solid fundamentals and understanding padel culture: carefully learned basic skills go a long way when a player also understands what is happening in the game and how to influence it.

Ari Katajamäki
Ari is a former ice hockey goalkeeper and an experienced adult tennis player who discovered padel when the first courts opened in Rovaniemi in the summer of 2021. The sport immediately took hold. He completed padel instructor and club coach qualifications in 2023 and has since been actively involved in coaching, courses, and corporate wellbeing days in Rovaniemi. Alongside coaching, Ari holds a Master’s degree in Education and works as a physical education teacher and assistant principal. This background is reflected in his clear training structures, strong group management skills, and pedagogical approach. As a coach, he is known for his energetic and motivating style, as well as for providing plenty of constructive feedback. He has also received positive feedback for designing exercises through game situations rather than focusing only on isolated drills. As for his own playing, Ari describes it as “fitness training and teasing younger players”. Alongside padel, he also enjoys spending time at the gym.
