Padel Center League Rules
1. Participation
-
Women may also participate in the men’s league, but men may not participate in the women’s league.
-
In the mixed doubles league, teams consist of one male and one female player.
-
A player may participate in more than one league, for example men’s and mixed doubles, as long as they ensure they are able to play all scheduled matches.
-
A playing partner may be changed once during the season for a well justified reason, such as injury or a long absence.
-
If one player is unavailable, a substitute may be used.
-
The substitute should generally be of the same or lower skill level than the player being replaced.
-
The use of a substitute must be approved by the opposing pair.
-
2. Playing the matches
-
Matches are played as best of three sets.
-
The third set is played as a full set, unless the pairs agree to play a 10-point tie break, for example due to time constraints.
-
A 1.5-hour court booking is reserved for each match.
-
If a match is unfinished due to the booking time ending, the pair leading at the end of the session is declared the winner.
-
If the score is tied, one deciding point is played. The server is the player whose turn it would have been.
-
-
Matches are primarily played during Padel Center Sunday match days.
-
If a pair is unable to play on the scheduled Sunday, this must be reported no later than two weeks before the match day or immediately once the conflict is confirmed.
-
If the match schedule cannot be moved to another Sunday, the pairs are responsible for agreeing on and booking a new match time themselves.
-
All matches are played at Padel Center Rovaniemi.

3. Match results
-
The winning pair enters the match result into Playtomic immediately after the match.
-
If one pair does not show up, the result is recorded as a walkover win of 6–0, 6–0.
-
If a pair fails to show up, they are responsible for paying the full court fee.
4. Points system and league table
-
Win 2–0 = 3 points
-
Win 2–1 = 2 points
-
Loss 1–2 = 1 point
-
Loss 0–2 = 0 points
-
If teams are tied on points, the ranking is decided in the following order:
-
Head to head result
-
Set difference
-
Game difference
-
Draw
5. League progression
-
Divisions are formed based on the organisers’ assessment and or possible qualification matches.
-
During the season, three regular season rounds are played, with qualification rounds held between the main rounds.
6. Promotions, relegations, and qualification rounds
-
Group winners are promoted directly to the higher division for the next round.
-
The pair finishing last in the group is relegated directly to the lower division.
-
The group runners up and the second and third lowest placed pairs from the higher group play a qualification group during qualification week, where all pairs play against each other (2 matches per pair).
-
From the qualification group, the top two pairs are promoted to the higher division, and the last placed pair will play in the lower division in the next round.
-
In the qualification group, drawing lots is not used to decide rankings. If the head to head result, set difference, and game difference are all equal, promotion to the higher division is decided in the following order: 1.The pair promoted from the lower group, 2. The third lowest placed pair from the higher group, 3. The second lowest placed pair from the higher group
-
The group winning pair of each round receives a prize of a 1 hour doubles coaching session with Ruben Mayo.
7. Season schedule and rounds
-
First qualification week: 29 December 2025–4 January 2026 (week 1)
-
Second round: 5 January–8 March 2026 (weeks 2–10)
-
Second qualification week: 9 March–15 March 2026 (week 11)
-
Third round: 16 March–17 May 2026 (weeks 12–20)
-
Final event: Week 21 (final date to be confirmed)
-
Each regular season round lasts approximately 8–9 weeks, followed by one week of qualification matches before the next round begins.
8. Joining the league mid season as a new pair
-
New pairs may join the league during the season, but not directly in the top division.
-
If a new pair wishes to start above the lowest level, they must play qualification matches during a qualification week, or earlier, against two pairs from the target division.
-
If the new pair earns 3 points or more from these two matches, they may be placed in that division, provided that the division structure and schedule allow it.
-
If the new pair earns 2 points or fewer, they will start in a lower division.
-
The league organiser makes the final decision on division placement and any possible exceptions.
9. Withdrawing from the league during the season
-
If a pair withdraws from the league mid season without a justified reason, they are responsible for finding a replacement pair.
-
Acceptable reasons for withdrawal include injury or long term absence. In such cases, players should primarily try to find a replacement player themselves. If needed, the league organiser may assist in finding a replacement.
-
If no replacement player or pair can be found and the pair must withdraw completely, this must be reported to the competition director as soon as possible.
10. Other considerations
-
The competition director reserves the right to make changes to the rules or league arrangements if necessary, for example due to changes in schedules, participant numbers, or circumstances.
